Can I change my ....@googlemail.com to .....@gmail.com?

I received an invite from a friend to join googlemail.com, but I have noticed that some addresses only have ....gmail.com at the end. Does anyone know how I can change to gmail.com???

There is no difference, have friends email you at "youraddress@gmail.com" and it'll all end up in the same inbox.
Reply:whats the difference? you can still send/receive! live with it.

on the other hand guy who answered right before me is right, in Germany google is not allowed to use name "gmail". it is a possibility why it comes up like this in some european countries.
Reply:you can't do it. When Gmail was first developed you were given @gmail.com, but google got sued for copywrite infringement so had to stop using it so now can only have googlemail.com.
